You’ve seen every part of ABC’s “Whiskey Cavalier” somewhere before.
A crime-fighting pair with sexual tension? A scrappy team of outcasts and geniuses? Cheesy villains who are easily toppled? “Whiskey Cavalier' (★★ out of four) checks all the boxes on that list.
The new action-adventure dramedy, which drew 4.1 million viewers with its Sunday night despite its late 11:55 p.m. (EST) start time, airs its series premiere again Wednesday at 10 EST/PST.
The building blocks of the new crime/action procedural range from “Bones” to “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” to “Scandal,” from which it draws one of its two stars, Scott Foley. Here he’s an emotional FBI agent, with the show's title as his catchy call sign. Foley is joined by Lauren Cohan, who broke out on “The Walking Dead” and is now shooting criminals instead of zombies as a hard-wired CIA agent. Once the paths of these two aces from rival agencies cross, an unlikely team is born. Cue the will-they-won’t-they romance and the attempt at “His Girl Friday” patter.
For some viewers, the formulaic scripts and characters can be a function, not a bug. For those seeking an easy, low-stakes procedural to replace the “Castle”-sized hole in their hearts, “Whiskey” will do just fine. It's as generic and satisfying as a glass of rail whiskey – it may not be top shelf, but it will do in a pinch.
“Whiskey” kicks off just after FBI Agent Will Chase (Foley) has been dumped by his fiance, and his ennui is affecting his work. He’s assigned a mission to Russia to recover a National Security Agency analyst (Tyler James Williams) who has stolen classified intelligence. CIA Agent Francesca “Frankie” Trowbridge (Cohan) is also after the analyst, and for much of the premiere, they fight for control until, of course, a common foe forces them to team up.
The opener is all international locations, gunfights and explosions, as the writers set Will and Frankie up to work together on a special CIA/FBI team (sure, why not?). A second episode (airing March 6) retains the international intrigue and explosions, but as with many such action shows, the budget doesn't keep pace.
The biggest flaw of “Whiskey” is the chemistry is lacking between its two leads – the essential cream in the cafe latte of a two-hander procedural. Foley and Cohan are both attractive, talented and claim legions of fans from their previous work. But while some sparks fly, it all feels a little bit forced. If the writers want to keep the will-they-or-won’t-they tension going for more than a few episodes, the relationship needs more nuance.
Foley's Whiskey-monikered agent likes whiskey (well, bourbon). His feelings are big and his puppy dog eyes are bigger. Frankie eschews her girly given name for a more masculine one, as if her leather jackets, kill count and heart of steel weren’t proof enough that she's a guys' girl. All flash, very little substance. For some, that will work. But plenty of shows (including CBS's 'Elementary') manage to do both.

Update on upcoming Auto-Loot Feature:After some internal deliberati..on, we’ve decided that the best course of action is to release Hotfix 1 with several bugfixes we wish to get in your hands sooner rather than later.Meanwhile, the auto-loot feature and some other surprises we are working on will instead be released when they are ready in V1.1.4.0, likely in mid-July.The new Roguelike Dungeon and Riggs’ questline will be released in V1.1.5.0.Note that this is not going to have any impact on the release timeframe of the Riggs content, which is still expected later this year. We are simply inserting a surprise Major update in the middle, which means you get MOAR and get it posthaste…r.See More

Incoming Auto-Loot for Components/Crafting Materials! (06/21 Livestr..eam Spoiler)Those that had a chance to stop by the livestream today have had their first look at a feature we are rolling out in an upcoming hotfix.Due to popular demand for an auto-loot feature and the frequent frustration whenever we update the game and thus temporarily break the mod that enables it, we have decided to make auto-looting of Components and Crafting Materials a baseline feature.Coming up in V1.1.3.1, you will have the option of toggling on this feature in the Game Options. It will be disabled by default, as new players should still get an opportunity to read the tooltips before they are sucked into their inventory, but for veterans you will soon be able to enjoy one of the great features popularized by Grim Internals! In addition in the upcoming update, all Partial Components looted, whether with auto-loot or by clicking them, will automatically combine in your inventory! On our forum, you can view a a little preview of the work-in-progress of this feature that was played during the livestream! https://forums.crateentertainment.com/…See More

Where is he? I've been to Devil's Crossing in the Edge of Reality. Bourbon disappeared during our conversation and never returned. I've killed Lokarr, and about 100 clones of John Bourbon while doing so. I've searched the internet extensively and can't find anything anywhere that says how you start the fight that ultimately leads to facing the Actual Final Form of the Clone.
During videos of the fight it seems to be placed at Devil's Crossing in the Edge of Reality but I'm there and can't figure it out.
Please help! Thanks.

“Hitch: making rules about drinking can be the sign of an alcoholic,' as Martin Amis once teasingly said to me. (Adorno would have savored that, as well.) Of course, watching the clock for the start-time is probably a bad sign, but here are some simple pieces of advice for the young. Don't drink on an empty stomach: the main point of the refreshment is the enhancement of food. Don't drink if you have the blues: it's a junk cure. Drink when you are in a good mood. Cheap booze is a false economy. It's not true that you shouldn't drink alone: these can be the happiest glasses you ever drain. Hangovers are another bad sign, and you should not expect to be believed if you take refuge in saying you can't properly remember last night. (If you really don't remember, that's an even worse sign.) Avoid all narcotics: these make you more boring rather than less and are not designed—as are the grape and the grain—to enliven company. Be careful about up-grading too far to single malt Scotch: when you are voyaging in rough countries it won't be easily available. Never even think about driving a car if you have taken a drop. It's much worse to see a woman drunk than a man: I don't know quite why this is true but it just is. Don't ever be responsible for it.”

“Do you, good people, believe that Adam and Eve were created in the Garden of Eden and that they were forbidden to eat from the tree of knowledge? I do. The church has always been afraid of that tree. It still is afraid of knowledge. Some of you say religion makes people happy. So does laughing gas. So does whiskey. I believe in the brain of man.”

“I see things in windows and I say to myself that I want them. I want them because I want to belong. I want to be liked by more people, I want to be held in higher regard than others. I want to feel valued, so I say to myself to watch certain shows. I watch certain shows on the television so I can participate in dialogues and conversations and debates with people who want the same things I want. I want to dress a certain way so certain groups of people are forced to be attracted to me. I want to do my hair a certain way with certain styling products and particular combs and methods so that I can fit in with the In-Crowd. I want to spend hours upon hours at the gym, stuffing my body with what scientists are calling 'superfoods', so that I can be loved and envied by everyone around me. I want to become an icon on someone's mantle. I want to work meaningless jobs so that I can fill my wallet and parentally-advised bank accounts with monetary potential. I want to believe what's on the news so that I can feel normal along with the rest of forever. I want to listen to the Top Ten on Q102, and roll my windows down so others can hear it and see that I am listening to it, and enjoying it. I want to go to church every Sunday, and pray every other day. I want to believe that what I do is for the promise of a peaceful afterlife. I want rewards for my 'good' deeds. I want acknowledgment and praise. And I want people to know that I put out that fire. I want people to know that I support the war effort. I want people to know that I volunteer to save lives. I want to be seen and heard and pointed at with love. I want to read my name in the history books during a future full of clones exactly like me.
The mirror, I've noticed, is almost always positioned above the sink. Though the sink offers more depth than a mirror, and mirror is only able to reflect, the sink is held in lower regard. Lower still is the toilet, and thought it offers even more depth than the sink, we piss and shit in it. I want these kind of architectural details to be paralleled in my every day life. I want to care more about my reflection, and less about my cleanliness. I want to be seen as someone who lives externally, and never internally, unless I am able to lock the door behind me.
I want these things, because if I didn't, I would be dead in the mirrors of those around me. I would be nothing. I would be an example. Sunken, and easily washed away.”

“Alan Campbell opened one eye.
From somewhere in remote distances, muffled beyond sight or sound, his soul crawled back painfully, through subterranean corridors, up into his body again. Toward the last it moved to a cacophony of hammers and lights.
Then he was awake.
The first eye was bad enough. But, when he opened his second eye, such as rush of anguish flowed through his brain that he hastily closed them again.”

“In the years that followed I worked as much as I could filling my empty hours with theatres and alcohol. I found I had grown to like the taste. Maybe that was a lie. “He entered the bar at the far end of the boulevard. He was feeling melancholic and a tad morose for no particular reason. The bar was already bustling with a few people. But he was all alone. He was feeling the bouts of loneliness all over again. He knew he had to forget her. There was nothing else that he could do.
The bartender looked at him sitting all alone on one corner of the bar. And asked gently with a smile'Monsieur what shal I get for you?'
He smiled back and said 'Whiskey on the rocks!”

Believe it or not, there was a time when the dark fantasy action-RPG Grim Dawn was expected to launch in 2011. That obviously didn't work out, but development has continued, slowly but steadily, and today Crate Entertainment announced that it is 'content complete,' meaning that everything in the game—quests, items, difficulty levels, and the Big Finish—is now accessible.
'Nothing is blocked off, no quests remain that cannot be completed,' the studio revealed on Facebook. 'There is no cruel Clone of John Bourbon awaiting you at the end of the line to tell you that you must wait for the next update. Starting today, you have the full experience from start to finish.'
